ReinCloud Wins Top Next Generation TV Competition
Represented by Dan Reitan and Ping Bartley at the international event, ReinCloud wins 1st place overall at TV Hackfest 2013.

Technologists from all over the world converged on San Francisco to compete for international recognition as leaders driving the future of television. The panel of judges, comprised of event sponsors Google, Facebook and Twitter, awarded ReinCloud's recently unveiled ARGTV™ (patents pending) the top award, naming ReinCloud "the thought leader in Next Gen TV". During the competition, Reitan demonstrated how ReinCloud's new B2B product can help event sponsors and other large tech concerns generate revenue by making their flagship products relevant in the rapidly emerging space:

"Our interaction with Facebook, Twitter, and Google has altered our go-to-market strategy. We expect that the incentives our products and technology offer to cloud service partners such as these will greatly accelerate our market penetration. The world-wide recognition already bestowed upon us by these very large brand names has significantly improved our fundraising, the primary limit to growth for ReinCloud until now." said Reitan.

ReinCloud Completes Extensive Patent Filing
Last month, ReinCloud, with help from Wagner Blecher (a premier Silicon Valley Patent Law Firm), officially completed its initial utility patent filings, complete with USPTO filing receipts and international filings.

To help accomplish this resource-intensive task, Wagner Blecher mobilized a small army of patent engineers, attorneys and legal aides. Leading the charge were founding principal John Wagner and project manager and patent attorney Julie Travers. With over 300 claims within the filings, 15 utility patents have been written and filed with the USPTO in omnibus applications, with specifications sufficient to firmly establish our desirable filing and invention dates for dozens of additional patents within the space. (14 in omnibus are now filed internationally, with an option to internationally file the remaining pending patent by August of 2013.)

Because our 2011 provisional filings relate to most of our filed utility claims, our filing dates now go back over a year, and invention dates further still -- many go back several years or more. With this early start in IP , and a significant number of high-value claims now on file, we have confidence that we have covered significant positions (including potential choke-points) in the future of television, augmented reality, and mobile computing.

"It is a relief to finally be able to discuss this IP in detail with our potential investors" said ReinCloud chief exec Dan Reitan. So much so that he dedicated 15 pages of the newly drafted 45 page ReinCloud Strategic Plan to presenting an overview of our technology and its practical application. With roughly 2500 pages on file with the USPTO (and many thousands more, too detailed for filing requirements), writing the 15 page overview was a non-trivial task in itself.

"At the end of the day, what we have essentially protected is the practical end-to-end application of augmented reality, distributed processing and distributed sensing to the real-time synthesis and distribution of immersive viewing and interaction with new media that integrates mass communications and interpersonal communications."

ReinCloud Unveils AR-based-AT™ at Plug and Play EXPO
At the Plug & Play 2012 Summer EXPO in Sunnyvale last week, ReinCloud gave their first public demonstration of their Augmented Reality based Automated Television™ technology (patents pending).

According to Vladimir Rubashevsky, "It was an exhausting day. Our booth was swarmed since the very beginning, We had to prioritize between setting up our booth, network and demos and talking to the visitors"

"We decided to participate less than a week before the event, and have been scrambling since then to keep up with the breakneck pace of partnership opportunities that have resulted from our participation. I am grateful to Jojo Flores, Alireza Masrour and Candace Denton from Plug and Play for convincing us to participate in this event." -- Dan Reitan

Thanks also to our advisory board for helping to man the booth, as the four of us were not enough to handle the traffic.

ReinCloud founders were invited as VIP subject matter experts to the New Digital Economics Silicon Valley Executive Brainstorm to discuss changing market landscapes and to showcase ReinCloud's ability to drive new media forms with our cross-platform Augmented Reality technology.

They met with executives from Telcos, TV Networks and other carriers, content providers, device manufacturers and other significant industry drivers.

"Everyone who saw our Augmented Reality demos seemed impressed" according to Vladimir Rubashevsky.

Dan Reitan added: "After intense discussions and problem solving my take-away from the event was a clear understanding of the issues and opportunities facing advertisers, content providers, networks, Telcos, and other carriers in this $4 trillion disrupted market, and the potential for our technology to uniquely address many of their pain points.

ReinCloud Apps Near 500,000 Downloads
ReinCloud surpassed the 450,000 Android Market download mark last month with its test-marketing suite. This initiative involved exposure of only 1% of ReinCloud's inventory of working, tested code to the market, with minimal promotion. The next product suite of Interactive TV products is underway, and expected to greatly exceed these early successes.

Provisional Patents Filed
ReinCloud Corporation has recently completed provisional filings containing enough claims to file a significant number of critical utility patents, with help from premier Silicon Valley patent law firm Wagner-Blecher. The filed claims cover key applied technology positions in the practical delivery of new media applications within the mobile social cloud.

ReinCloud's intellectual property manages the complexity of delivering augmented reality and distributed processing to cloud-based mobile, social and new media systems.

Months prior to filing, renowned software intellectual property expert G. Gervaise Davis described ReinCloud's IP as "already significant".

With patents pending, and protected also by copyright and trade secret, this IP supports a more vertical business model of service delivery, providing value from multiple client platforms all the way through SaaS, PaaS and CaaS solutions. Based on recent developments in the space, there is reason to believe that ReinCloud's IP positions have considerable value beyond their protection of this business model.

Mobile Social Cloud Patent Developments
In the mobile social cloud "Wild West", there is a patent shootout looming.

Typical mobile software start-ups, even the well-funded ones, appear to be bringing knives to this gunfight; most new mobile app companies have yet to file a single claim.

More established technology companies appear to be stockpiling patent claims:

Google recently paid $12.5 billion for Motorola Mobility and their reported 17,000 mobile technology patents, Nortel's 6000 patents sold for $4.5 billion at auction, HP's prior purchase of Palm for $1.2 billion with an estimated 1600 patents prompted John Paczkowski at All Things Digital to exclaim "it is clear that mobile patents are worth a great deal these days." Stanford Law School Fellow and software intellectual property expert Stuart Soffer puts a more specific value on these patents: "... between $736,000 and $750,000 apiece." Significantly, these "mobile" portfolios are reported to include social media and cloud technology claims.

Microsoft is already receiving significant license revenue on its mobile technology claims, receiving $60 million from Android shipments in Q2 2011 from one manufacturer alone. This fact suggests potential revenue of this license well exceeds $1 billion annually. Oracle apparently intends to similarly monetize mobile claims acquired from the purchase of Sun Microsystems.

Clearly, mobile technology patent claims represent significant value. It remains to be seen whether significant, sustainable positions can be effectively carved out in this space without such claims. The smart money appears to betting very large sums that patent positions will be an important component of success in the mobile social cloud.
